Effectiveness of methylprednisolone in ankylosing spondylitis patients with acute anterior uveitis
Purpose: Through observing the effect of high-dose methylprednisolone treatment on active AS with acute anterior uveitis (AAU) to evaluate the influence of methylprednisolone on the serological cytokines IL-23 and IL-17 in AS patients with AAU. We try to explore the clinical effect and possible mechanism of high-dose methylprednisolone treatment on AS with AAU. Methods: The present study includ...
متن کاملIsolation of IgG Antibodies to Toxocara in Ankylosing Spondylitis Patients with Acute Anterior Uveitis
PURPOSE Since few reports had been published on the prevalence of toxocariasis in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients with acute non-granulomatous anterior uveitis (ANGAU), the aim of this work was to determine the presence of antibodies against Toxocara canis in AS patients with ANGAU. METHODS Thirty-six patients (14 female and 22 male) with AS were enrolled in the study. The history of ANG...
متن کاملAcute anterior uveitis, ankylosing spondylitis, back pain, and HLA-B27.
One hundred and sixty-nine patients with acute anterior uveitis were studied for the presence of HLA-B27 tissue type, radiological evidence of ankylosing spondylitis, and a history of back pain. 60% were male; 45% were HLA-B27+. The male:female ratio in the HLA-B27+ group was the same as in the whole group. 24% had radiological evidence of ankylosing spondylitis, and, of these, 83% were HLA-B27...
متن کاملASSOCIATION OF HLA-B27 WITH ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS IN ISFAHAN, IRAN
Using a standard microcytotoxicity (NIH) technique of tissue typing, the HLA-B27 antigen was identified in 30 out of 34 patients (HH.2%) with classical ankylosing spondylitis (AS), compared to 6 out of 70 controls (H.6%) (P < 0.005). We also found this antigen in 8 out of 76 (10.5%) patients with non-AS arthritis.
متن کاملThe role of Vitamin D in immuno-inflammatory responses in Ankylosing Spondylitis patients with and without Acute Anterior Uveitis
Hypothesis:Abnormal Vitamin D (Vit D) level could have consequences on the immuno-inflammatory processes in Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). Aim:The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of Vitamin D in the interplay between immune and inflammation effectors in AS associated-Acute Anterior Uveitis (AAU). Methods and Results:25-hydroxyvitamin D (Vit D), LL-37 peptide, IL-8 and Serum Amyloid ...
